science of healthy food choices
practitioner of health foods

Okay, they’re not really doctors, they just play one in BrandAid’s bi-weekly e-mail newsletter. Actually, they consider themselves Practitioners in the Science of Healthy Food Choices (PSHFC) – it’s a term created to describe the work they do at BrandAid. This “degree” means they know what to buy and what to shun at the grocery store based on the ingredients listed on food packaging. They created BrandAid in order to pass on this important information to you.

Oh, by the way, please keep in mind that the BrandAid service is solely for informational purposes and was designed to help shoppers decode food labels on products found in most grocery stores. It is not intended to replace medical advice or to be a substitute for a physician. Always consult with a medical or health-care professional before starting any new nutrition, weight-loss, or exercise program, or if you have questions about your health in general.

Jill Bennett Gaieski, Esq.

Jill Bennett Gaieski was the executive editor of The Last Diet Book Standing and now is bringing her expertise in label reading to BrandAid, as a contributing editor. Jill figured out a long time ago that it's what's in the food not on the packaging that counts when it comes to healthy eating. Always ahead of the curve, Jill became an expert label reader long before paying attention to what you eat was considered “cool.” Jill manages to avoid most junk food by finding healthy alternatives that satisfy her cravings and taste great too. That's not to say she doesn't indulge every once in a while. She's found that satisfying her sweet tooth now and again eliminates the urge to binge on bad goodies.

Jill holds a law degree from Nova Southeastern University, and received
a BA in journalism from the University of Florida. She is barred in
(not from!) Florida and Pennsylvania, where she practiced law for nine years. In the mid-90's Jill switched gears and began pursuing her life-long passion, anthropology. She has since earned a master's degree in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, and is now in the process of earning a Ph.D. Jill was just named program manager for the North American office of National Geographic's "Genographic Project,” a worldwide effort to collect indigenous DNA, with the goal of understanding ancient human migration patterns.

Jill resides in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, with her husband, David, a
physician and researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, and her two
incredible sons, Ethan and Clayton.
